The Shore (with restaurant owner Bruce Rennie)
"One of the most important things as an artist is to challenge oneself..."
This is a phrase that John Ro Ogden feels is a vital aspect of his art career and with this in mind we were happy to undertake a very special commission last month.
We were contacted by Bruce Rennie, Chef and Owner of The Shore Restaurant in Penzance in Cornwall.
He had seen John's work on Twitter and was so enthralled with it that he thought that a large scale painting would make a perfect addition to the decor of his specialty fish restaurant dining area.
And following a meeting and then measuring of the wall space available he left the whole concept in John's capable hands.
The food at the restaurant is simply beautiful in both looks and most of all taste, with Bruce sourcing local ingredients and using the freshest and finest bounty of the sea to create exquisite dishes.
So this painting had to not only fit in perfectly with the intimate and relaxing feel of the dining area, it also had to be simply the best it could be.
The finished painting is now hanging proudly on the wall and is 6ft x 4ft.
"My intention in creating this painting is to give the diners a shoreline experience. To almost feel the sea breeze and hear the waves gently crashing onto the strand line. I want diners to imagine that they are sitting at a table at the waters edge, eating the amazing food that Chef Bruce Rennie creates whilst relaxing and feeling at one with the sea."
We feel here at The Wavescape Studio that this challenge has certainly been accomplished.
Thank you to Bruce Rennie for giving John the opportunity to create another fantastic painting, which we are sure will be loved by visitors to your restaurant...
